Sean Goodman has genetically modified the traditional ‘Out of this World’ plot into a new, easy to do trick that packs a real punch! And don’t forget, Genetics is not a card trick! It is the perfect trick to perform for couples and the reactions to the kicker ending are huge because the audience make every choice during the trick, despite you trying to ‘influence’ them!

First Impressions

Genetics uses 26 specially printed cards that contain pictures of everyday (and some not so everyday) objects. They have been chosen to spark conversation with your audience and they do. The cards are completely examinable and even the keenest spectator will not suspect the method. One of the best aspects of performing Genetics is that is involves your audience, you get to interact with the man and women and ask them questions. They participate in the effect, which makes the final revelation stronger. The cards don’t take up much pocket space, so for a worker, this is good news. After performing Genetics over 30 times, I’d say that the audience reaction is usually one of bafflement. They will not try to work out how it is done, because it doesn’t play like that type of trick. One thing that is worth mentioning is that, the trick has a rather long lead in before any ‘magic’ happens, so it is probably not an opener.

The Nitty Gritty Details of the Review

I think the easiest method is the best method for this trick. Using the classic top to bottom false shuffle to retain the cards in order is just enough to convince the spectators that the cards are ‘random’. You don’t need to overdo it with fancy shuffles as it is not perceived as a sleight of hand effect but more of an experiment into the way men and women think.

The DVD

We are really proud of the Genetics DVD. It has been broken down into four sections. The trailer, an introduction, what you receive and a basic explanation. Sean explains the inspiration behind the effect and goes through a few different handlings. All in all you learn everything you need to go out and perform Genetics right away!
